It's got a few different role management plugins, category specific plugins, and custom author presentation widgets. The sidebar author display is a bit dated as I've coded up a different look and feel which can be seen at My FHA Blog.

Thanks for the comment man.

It should be able to run it no problem.

It really depends on the amount of blogs you have and how much traffic you’re getting.

When WannaNetwork.com was running good it didn’t run over 2gb of ram and didn’t go over any of the limits you mentioned.

BTW, Nice site, I checked out your portfolio. Good stuff.

Great article man. I used Buddypress myself and found it fairly easy to develop with, but I always wondered about the kind of resources that I would need to run a large site. In your opinion, would a VPS with 170 GB space, 400GB bandwidth and over 1GB dedicated RAM do the trick for, say, up to 5000 users?

In addition to everything you’ve written I would speculate that the ever evolving realm of social networking was probably a factor too. Much has changed since WannaNetwork launched their original site.

I like the direction WannaNetwork has chosen and will watch to see how that works out.
